Terms of Service
Effective 2026-05-24. Operated by Landry Taylor (landrytaylor1717@gmail.com).
1. Who can use Gather
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By creating an account you confirm you meet this requirement. Gather is a Christian community platform; content and discussion are expected to remain consistent with that context.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You may not share your account, impersonate another person, or create accounts for the purpose of harassment or spam. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Your username is permanent once set. Your display name and denomination can be updated in Settings at any time.
3. What you can post
Gather is a space for prayer requests, testimonies, encouragement, and faith-centered discussion. You agree not to post content that:
- Harasses, demeans, or targets another person or group
- Is designed to attack or mock another Christian tradition or denomination (doctrinal discussion in good faith is welcome; attacks are not)
- Contains sexual content, graphic violence, or material that would be inappropriate in a church context
- Is spam, advertising, or solicitation unrelated to genuine community participation
- Violates anyone's intellectual property rights or privacy
- Constitutes illegal activity under applicable law
Content that violates these rules may be removed without notice. Repeat violations will result in account suspension or permanent ban.
4. Crisis content
Gather may display crisis resource banners (e.g., the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) when certain keywords are detected. This is a safety feature, not a diagnosis or clinical service. Gather is not a substitute for professional mental health, medical, or pastoral care. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, contact emergency services.
5. Content ownership and license
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant Gather a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit your content solely as necessary to operate the platform. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising.
When you delete a post or request account deletion, your content is removed or anonymized according to our Privacy Policy. The 30-day grace period on account deletion allows you to recover your account if you change your mind.
6. Moderation
Gather uses automated content filters and human moderators to enforce these terms. Automated systems may flag or block content before a human reviews it. If you believe a moderation action was applied in error, contact landrytaylor1717@gmail.com.
Moderation decisions are at the operator's discretion. We aim to apply rules consistently, but Gather is a private platform and is not required to host any particular content or user.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It is incorporated into these terms by reference.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
Gatheris provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times, error-free, or that any particular feature will remain available. Prayer responses and community interactions are between users; Gather makes no representations about outcomes of prayers or the accuracy of user-posted content.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gather and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of goodwill, or emotional distress resulting from interactions with other users.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice before taking effect. Continued use of Gather after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Travis County, Texas.
